Contact Us NowMalaysia My Second Home (MM2H) is a long-stay visa programme administered by the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) that allows eligible foreigners to reside in Malaysia on a renewable 5-year multiple-entry visa. It is open to citizens of all countries recognised by Malaysia who meet the financial requirements. Applicants must be 35 years of age or above (with exceptions for spouses and dependants) and demonstrate sufficient offshore income and liquid assets. V Home MM2H guides eligible applicants through every step of the process.
Under the revised MM2H 2021 guidelines, applicants are required to place a Fixed Deposit of RM500,000 in a Malaysian bank for the duration of the visa. After one year, applicants may withdraw up to RM250,000 for approved expenses such as property purchase, vehicle purchase, children's education, or medical fees — provided the remaining RM250,000 is maintained throughout the visa period. V Home assists with bank account opening and FD placement in compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia requirements.
The MM2H application process typically takes 6 to 12 months from the submission of a complete application to MOTAC. The process involves document preparation, submission through an approved agent, MOTAC vetting, Conditional Approval Letter issuance, Fixed Deposit placement, and final visa endorsement. V Home MM2H manages the entire process on your behalf, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant to avoid delays.
MM2H visa holders are generally not permitted to engage in full-time employment in Malaysia. However, they may apply for a work permit through separate employment pass channels if they wish to work. MM2H holders are allowed to invest in Malaysian businesses and own properties. They can also apply for part-time work (up to 20 hours per week) in specific sectors by obtaining prior approval from the Immigration Department.
MM2H holders enjoy numerous benefits including a renewable 5-year multiple-entry visa, the right to bring a spouse and children as dependants, the ability to purchase residential property at foreigner market value, ownership of one locally-assembled or imported vehicle tax-free, access to Malaysian private healthcare and international schools, and a stable, low-cost lifestyle in one of Southeast Asia's most liveable countries. Malaysia's strategic location also makes it an ideal base for regional travel.
